Zen and the Art of Internet Spaceship Maintenance

Xeross has started collecting people’s traveled systems maps. I thought I would contribute. I did this once before with some extra detail included. If you compare that with my current map just know I toured the south some more with Atlas then went to Syndicate with BOZO. We then moved back down to Curse and I am now back up in the Essence area. With no further ado here is the modern version. Maybe i’ll update it with sweet word bubbles later.

I just keep on wanderin

Some of you have noticed that I am no longer flying the BOZO colors in game and asked what was going on so I thought I would post something here.  It’s true. I have left Clown Punchers…..for a bit. Things were slowing down a bit in Curse, a couple of BOZOs are on break and some of my buddies from RL work were looking for something to do. This combined with a bunch of other games to play and the fact that it was getting to be about time for my 6 month EvE itch, meant that I needed to take a breather. I really enjoyed flying with BOZO. I learned a ton, laughed my ass off regularly and got more kills than you can shake a stick at while there. It’s definitely the best corp I have been in to date. I fully intend to return to there again in an month or two(if they’ll have me), for now however it looks like the compass has swung to faction warfare.

I have been running the corp Initrode for a long time with my alts. the only members are my alts and a few coworkers and some assorted friends of ours from years back. We haven’t been really active in anything and at least one or two of our members have expressed a desire to give some pvp a try. Faction warfare seems like a perfect compromise so as of about an hour or 2 after this writing Initrode will be a member of the Gallente militia.

I am personally looking forward to it. It’s been a while since I gave FW a try and I’m interested to see what if anything has changed. Also earning enough LP for one of those Navy Domis would be nice.

So if you are in the Gallente militia give me a hollar.

I can’t seem to find my camera but this pic is only from a few months back. Things are generally the same except I finally got around to getting a new power supply so there isn’t a nicely fire hazardous, shorted on power supply on top of the computer anymore. Also I have upgraded mice and some other accessories but nothing major.

It’s been a while since my last post so here’s a wall of text for you. There are a few reasons why its been so long. Fortunately all good. One is that there have been several great games released recently that I couldn’t pass up. I’m about 60 hours into Dragon Age : Origins right now and it really is a fantastic game. I’m not really a huge fantasy fan but but this game just does it all so well that I couldn’t stay away. The story telling is fantastic and its supported by excellent voice acting. This plus the myriad ways in which the story can change based on your actions or even conversations combines to make this game a great way to waste a lifetime or two. I’ve also been playing a lot of L4D and L4D2 which I just pucked up. Both are great games but so far L4D2 just isn’t quite holding up to the original for me. There’s a lot more weapons and special zombies but I think this may be a case where less is more. Still, both are great games and a lot of fun to jump in and play for an hour while waiting for the an op to start. I also picked up a bunch of stuff from the Steam holiday sale including Torchlight. If you liked Diablo then get Torchlight. You won’t regret it.

All of these games have been really fun especially since I upgraded my CPU, Video card and power supply. No more second power supply which is shorted on with a piece of paper clip is a big plus. I’m sure an electrical fire would really put a damper on a gaming session. Now with the extra horsepower I have actually be able to play the copy of GTA4 I picked up almost a year ago. It plays pretty well when you plug an Xbox controller into the machine.

So that’s the non-EvE stuff.

In-game I have been having a blast. Bozos have been kicking ass and taking names as usual. We even moved this month because targets had begun avoiding Hemin where we were living. This seems to happen about a month or 2 after we move anywhere. We’re now deeper in Curse region and when we first moved here there were a couple fail alliances around. One was French and one was is Russian. In about 2 weeks the froggies have already mostly moved out.  I wasn’t there for it but Bozos even managed to pop one of their carriers.  The Russians aren’t giving up so easy but it’s only a matter of time before they run out of cash.

On the personal front I have now finished Minmatar Cruiser 5. I’m really looking forward to being able to take something other than an Ishtar out for Hac gangs even though I am very fond of the ship. I even finished retraining Battle Cruisers V thanks to my penchant for not upgrading clones. Next I’ll have to retrain Gallente Battleship V for about the 3rd time.

On the kills front I surpassed 500 lifetime kills on Battleclinic last month and I’m about to hit 500 kills on my personal killboard. That board starts from the time I wen’t full PVP since I was a pee pee touching, dude smooching care bear before that.

Chicago EvE Meetup There is an EvE meetup coming in February. I plan to attend with a couple of the Initrode guys and you may even see some of the other Bozos there so watch out. You can check out the details here. The Goons apparently had a meet planned the same day and they are expected to crash. Just don’t share a tab with em since we know they have trouble paying bills.

Having ammo dramatically increases your performance when flying a battleship into nullsec. This pilot should take notice of this. As a free bonus tip I would also suggest he fill up those pesky mid slots.

Blogging Edition: Before you publish a new blog post, try reading it.

Yes most blogging software includes a spell check function which will eliminate most mistakes but let us as a community go the extra mile and actually proofread our content before publishing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m by no means perfect and there have been mistakes on my blog which I have fixed after the fact.  I’m sure there are some mistakes still present on my blog, however I do take the time to proofread over my posts at least once before publishing. I am also aware that not everyone has English as their first language. If this is the case for you consider finding someone who’s first language is English and having them proofread for you.

Lets all make a commitment to use these practices and all our blogs will be more readable and credible as a result.
